Natural Flea Control For Good Flea Management

One of the most noted organic natural flea control compound is Shoo! TAG. It combines cutting-edge science and technology to produce a “green” product that eliminates the use of toxic chemicals. Shoo! TAG represents a paradigm shift in the pest repellent industry. It utilizes an understanding of nature’s principles in combination with physics to produce a unique and totally “green” product. The key is the three dimensional electromagnetic static field embedded in the magnetic strip. Introducing the Shoo! TAG into the body’s electrical field produces an expanding barrier effect repelling the targeted pests. Shoo! TAG is leading the way in the pest repellent industry while being safe for pets, people, and the planet.

There are also organic natural flea control recipes that have been developed that are safe for pets. Diatomaceous Earth for example is the fossilized remains of diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. This is an off white powder that feels like flour. Not only can you eat it, it is already in a lot of the food that you eat. At the microscopic level, the diatoms are very sharp looking. These particles stick to an insect and get stuck between its exoskeleton joints. As the insect moves, it gets physically cut by the sharp diatoms. The diatoms stick to the flea and causes it to dry out. This involves the scratching of the flea's waxy layer allowing moisture within the insect to be "sucked" out—the flea dehydrates and dies.

Diatomaceous Earth is almost pure silica and under a microscope it looks like shards of glass. It is totally nontoxic and was once used for swimming pool filters. There is no buildup of tolerance like there is to poisons because the method of killing the flea is physical and not chemical.

Chrysanthemum blooms contain chemicals called pyrethrins. They are not toxic to mammals when used in small amounts. Pyrethrins are safe for use in food processing plants, homes, and around animals where more hazardous materials cannot be used. It has a long history of satisfactory use around mammals and birds.

In making pyrethins from Chrysanthemums, the blooms are dried and powdered. Be aware that pyrethrins are very chemically unstable and they will decompose in artificial light, sunlight, moist environments, and when exposed to air. They are usually mixed with a stabilizing chemical to prevent this. Most "natural flea powders" found in the local pet store, contain elements of Chrysanthemums.

It works as a natural flea control and is basically a neurotoxic chemical to several kinds of insects. Upon contact with the flea's exoskeleton, pyrethrins penetrate the flea's nervous system and causes the insect to be immobilized. It is commonly used to kill fleas, lice, mites, and mosquitoes as a natural flea control. It is often combined with a more powerful insect killer to kill larger, more protected bugs.
